Ilja Grawert Master Violin Maker´s Blog
I love making violins sound good
Hi… I am looking for a quality student cello and have a very limited budget. I have been playing for about 4 months now and progressing quite well (my teacher AND I thinks!) I am currently on a rental ‘Prima’ cello that has been obviously dropped and has a few poorly fixed cracks – from an f hole and in the neck and slight damage on one side. Of course I do not wish to buy this cello even though my 3 months rental agreement can be terminated.
I am not sure which of your cello’s would be best for me, the Student or the Caprice, and hoping you can advise me, but of course you would say the Caprice because it will sound better? What exactly is the difference between the two?
Also, there are no photos of your cellos on this website… and do you make the body yourselves, or import them (from where?) and add to from there?… and what kind of bag is included in the package, is it cloth, hard plastic case or hard foam core/nylon cover?
I need to know as much as I can before making the trip down to your shopfront, as I am in the Sunshine Coast hinterland. I am here on your website as a friend purchased her violin from you last year and is very happy!
Thanks for your time.
