fiddle maker sign with violas in foreground in Brisbane based Violin shop This sign has been hand painted by a film crew for a small scene of a movie, which was shot one Sunday in the street. My shop happened to be next to their main scene shop, so they used it with a different sign and some big lights inside. This sign was mounted at the outside of my shop on top of the original sign.
I like it.



In the following photos you can take a little picture tour through parts of the Violin shop. Most of the Violins are handmade and have a very beautiful sound. You find Instruments for the beginner up to professional instruments here. Every instrument is setup to the highest standard possible. We do believe in Violins which actually support the beginner or player by being easy to play. You will always find any support you need in this shop where you will be mostly served by Violin makers.
Please bring some time with you when you come to visit; most people stay longer than they thought they would, be it for a chat here with Kate or me or a coffee in the neighbouring Coffee Shop.

As you walk into the shop you get greeted by the Violin shops European warmth and traditional look. We do most of our work down in the shop at one of the three work benches for you to see and to watch if you want. Our upstairs workshop is used for the dirtier work like work with Ebony wood or most of the Double Bass work as well as small machine work.

These are just normal images of the handwork we are doing all the time in the Workshop every day. We hardly ever use machines. We prefer the traditional use of sharp hand tools.
Here I am using a scraper plane to thin down some sides for a new violin. See PROJECTS. page
